4 Tips to Maintain A Healthy Work-Life Balance

The length of the pandemic has caused many to do remote work. At first, we all thought it was going to be a breeze. No more commute – no more wearing boring office clothes – no more interruptions from your nosy boss. Boy, were we wrong. Little did we know working from home has its own set of struggles, the biggest of which is the need to balance work and life. Here are a few tips that can help you achieve that work-life balance:

Focus on What You Do Best, Outsource What You Hate Doing

No one can do everything. Don’t know how to do graphic design? Hire a professional graphic designer. Are you having headaches with your finances? Hire a bookkeeper. You will be more efficient if you can put complete focus on what you do best.

Schedule Your Work Hours and Your Personal Time

The 9-5 schedule is there for a reason. Your working hours are set apart from your personal time. When you’re working from home, those two sort of blur out. So, take a leaf out of your office’s book and schedule your working hours and personal time at home too.

Take Advantage of Technology and Ergonomic Furniture and Tools

One of the reasons why WLB is hard to achieve is because work takes up so much of our time. So, to allot more time for ourselves, we need to do things quicker. And we can! With technology that can cut our work hours in half if we use them. You don’t need to go to the bank just to pay your bills. Get set up with an auto-debit payment system. Are you spending hours and hours designing a slide deck for work? Use a template.

Another hindrance to WLB is stress – sitting on your chair for hours on end and typing on your keyboard until your fingers bleed. Get an ergonomic chair. Less stress and better posture. Get an ergonomic keyboard. They are designed to lessen muscle strain on your hands. They help you type faster too.

Take Breaks – I repeat, Take Breaks

Taking breaks is a consistently advised tip for productivity and efficiency, because again, there is only so much you can do. When you are scheduling your work hours, make sure to add 5 to 10 minute breaks in between each task.

Do you still think balancing work and life is hard? Try doing these tips, and ask that again. You will be surprised at how much easier WLB is.
